For University students, adults and professionals, there is no better way for cultural immersion than staying with a Moroccan host family while studying Arabic in Morocco. The purpose is not just to provide a place to stay but to create an enriching learning experience for both the guest and the host family.

By living in a home stay, you will: 

  • Learn and practices Arabic language with the family members in a daily basis.
  • Have meals provided by your host family (Moroccan Tagines, Couscous, Bastila…)
  • Experience first-hand the Moroccan customs and become a member of the family
  • Homestay is the most economy option if you are coming to Morocco to study Arabic or just to visit

The hosts are a combination of traditional families, single parents, childless couples or singles. They have different backgrounds, careers and interests are carefully selected through personal interviews and visits to homes to ensure they are clean and in order.

Your host will be good for you as it will provide guidance and support to help you improve your conversational skills in Darija or Classical Arabic through regular practice.

The Host Familes are situated in 5 different zones of Rabat (Hay Riad, Rabat Medina,Diour Jamaa, Ocean and Agdal). These are residential areas with shopping, cinema, theatre and restaurants as well as excellent parks, tennis courts, swimming pools, libraries and other facilities.

As a guest at a homestay, the focus is on you, and your likes and preferences. The hosts are usually very accommodating and will put a great deal of effort into arranging activities that are of interest to you. These activities will vary depending on your need. Exploring a Historical monument in Rabat, watching a football match in a coffee or going to the beach with the family members. Guests are often invited to attend weddings, or other festivals that are happening, as well.

Home Cooked Food: There’s a huge difference between the Moroccan food served in restaurants and hotels, and the food that’s cooked in an Moroccan home. By staying at a homestay, you’ll be able to taste authentic Moroccan home cooked food (Tagines, Couscous, Bastila,.). It’s a lot lighter, and has more variation and flavor than restaurant food. Some homestays even welcome their guests into their kitchen, and let them watch and participate in the cooking process.

Local Knowledge: The wealth of information that the hosts have about their local area makes deciding what to see and do a breeze. Such local knowledge is extremely helpful in getting the most from your visit. Many hosts are delighted to show their guests around their local area, providing them with invaluable insights that simply aren’t available from a guide book.

  • Delicious Moroccan meals: Have meals provided by your host family (Moroccan Tagines, Couscous, Bastila…)
  • Private room: Private furnished room with a Single bad a desk and a closet (internet service)
  • Learn and practice Arabic language with the family members in a daily basis.
  • Emergency contact: HOMESTAY-IN-RABAT association is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in case of emergency.
  • Possibility to switch the Family if needed.
  • Orientation Pack: Upon your arrival, we will supply you with our Orientation Pack, which contains homestay guidelines and maps.
  • Airport Pick-Up: Can be arranged for an additional charge  (from Rabat or Casablanca airport)
  • You fill out the registration form and send it via email to info@homestayinmorocco.ma 
  • we match you up with a family and send you a family profile along with the accommodation fees.
  • Upon your arrival to Morocco, You will be delivered to your homestay by one of our Housing Coordinators if airport reception is required 
  • We contact you by phone or email within the first couple of days after you have arrived to find out how you are doing.
