Homestay in Morocco offers a range of activities which give guests the unique opportunity to experience the specific culture of Morocco. Homestays can offer anything from adventure pursuits, artistic activities and experiencing local culture.
For University students, adults and professionals, there is no better way for cultural immersion than staying with a Moroccan host family while studying Arabic in Morocco. The purpose is not just to provide a place to stay but to create an enriching learning experience for both the guest and the host family.
Homestay in Moroccoorganizes a cooking class for guests where they can learn how to cook a traditional Moroccan tagine.
* All are welcome to join us 🙂 We will cook all together and eat what we have cooked!
If you choose to book with Homestay in Morocco, you may be one of the few lucky students who are granted the opportunity to attend a traditional Moroccan wedding. You may even find out the night you move into your apartment. With only four days to prepare, we quickly explored the Medina where we stumbled across many colorful and uniquely patterned “djellabas,” a common unisex robe that is worn long and loose for the occasion.
immerse yourself in a situation where communication in French or Spanish (depending on your program country) is a must! You will eat most of your meals with your family and sleep in their home. On weekends, you will spend a majority of the time with your host family doing activities that they enjoy sharing with you. Many evenings, you will find yourself getting together with other students, your Trip Leaders, and the homestay families to participate in various social activities.
Guests will be given the opportunity to wear traditional Moroccan dress, get their hands hennaed and take souvenir pictures. Henna is a shrub native to the Mediterranean regions. It is painted onto the surface of the skin with plant dye. It dyes the top few layers of your skin, so the design is still there even after the paint is gone! It typically lasts 1-3 weeks, with an average of about 10 days.
